Two news videos (in Japanese only) on two annual Tenrikyo events have been posted recently. Here are translations of the narration from the videos:

On October 26, the Autumn Grand Service of Tenrikyo 174 (2011) was conducted at the Main Sanctuary of Tenrikyo Church Headquarters with the Shinbashira Zenji Nakayama presiding as chief officiant.

The day proved to be the coldest day so far this autumn for western Japan. Roughly 80,000 worshipers from across Japan and around the world thronged to the Sanctuary precincts to attend the Autumn Grand Service.

Worshipers sang the Mikagura-uta as the Kagura Service and Teodori (Service Dance; shown in video) were performed following the reciting of the service prayer (saibun).

The Shinbashira then delivered the service sermon, in which he explained the kinds of efforts followers could advance so they could live up to God the Parent’s intention.

On October 27, the 87th Tenrikyo Young Men’s Association Convention was held in the Inner Courtyard of Tenrikyo Church Headquarters. YMA members thronged to the Inner Courtyard under a clear blue sky before the ceremonies commenced at 10:00 a.m.

The Shinbashira Zenji Nakayama, in his capacity as President of the YMA, spoke about the beginnings and underlying spirit of the association in his address to YMA members. He expressed his hope for association members to make strides toward the Joyous Life and live up to God the Parent’s intention with spirit and passion.

A representative then made a pledge on behalf of all association members. Those in attendance then joined together to sing the Tenrikyo Young Men’s Association Anthem to bring the convention to a close.
