Presenting information and related videos on ongoing exhibits from Tenri Sankokan and Tenri Central Library.

Translation of narration from first video:

At the Ancient Orient Museum in the Sunshine City building complex in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district, a traveling exhibition commemorating the 90th anniversary of Tenri University—“Father of Greek Archaeology, Heinrich Schliemann”—will be held between September 19 and November 8.

This marks the first time 28 items from the Tiryns excavation report from the related Tenri Sankokan Museum exhibition held this spring were made public in the Kanto region. In addition to primary materials from Schliemann’s excavation, a portion of the traveling exhibit is dedicated to presenting reproductions of his excavation hut and his tools.

This exhibition is to last until November 8. The traveling exhibition is subsequently scheduled to make its way to Yokohama and Nagoya next year.

Here is a translation of the narration from the second video:

On October 14, officials from Tenri Central Library of Tenri University announced the discovery of previously unknown verses from Yosa Buson among its collection.

The newly discovered 212 verses from Yosa Buson (1716–83), a representative poet of the mid-Edo period (1603–1868), were found in a work entitled Yahan-tei Buson kushu. This is a collection of Buson’s compositions written between his 20s and his late life and contains drafts with corrections and revisions he made himself. The discovery of these previously unknown verses in addition to the approximately 2,900 verses that have already been confirmed is expected to contribute to future research on Buson.

Further, between October 19 and November 8, Tenri Central Library will be holding an exhibit to commemorate the 300 years since Buson’s birth. Not only can visitors can view the aforementioned collection up close but other valuable resources that present Buson artwork.
